What happens at the home visit

Two of our team pop round for about 30–45 minutes, before you meet your cat. It’s a chat, a quick look around, and a chance to ask us anything.

What we’ll look at together

  • A quiet room where your new cat can settle in for the first week or two
  • Windows, screens and balconies, so there are no easy escape routes or falls
  • Your plan for keeping your cat safe from roads and local wildlife: indoors, a cat run or an enclosure
  • Other pets in the home and how you’d like to introduce them
  • Common hazards like lilies, loose blind cords and open bins
  • If you rent, your landlord’s written OK to keep a cat
  • Your photo ID. We look at it to confirm who you are. We don’t copy it or keep any details

What we’re not checking

  • How tidy your house is
  • How big your home is, or whether you own it
  • Fancy cat gear. A litter tray, bowls and a cosy spot is plenty

If anything needs sorting, like a loose fly screen, we’ll talk it through and help you fix it. It rarely stops an adoption.
